MHERE SNUBS GZU GOSPEL CONCERT

            by Elizabeth Magaya

Popular gospel artiste, Mathias Mhere disappointed the Great Zimbabwe University students when he did not show up at a gospel concert, held under the theme: “GZU yorumbidza Mwari”, where he was set to perform last Friday.

The ‘Favour’ hit-maker was scheduled to perform on the 1st of May at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), but did not show up as he was said to be performing at the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries All-night prayer.

Mhere, a darling of many Gospel fans as he is well-known for his vivacious stage performances, once staged at the same venue last year, where he gave his best shot which left the fans thirsting for more.

Students were disappointed by the seemingly unconvincing announcement that was made about Mhere not being able to attend the concert due to family issues.

One of the students who attended the concert, Linda Shabaya, retorted, “I was so devastated that Mathias Mhere did not show up, since he was the star attraction  the major reason why my friends and l decided to attend the Gospel concert. The disappointment even escalated when l heard the lame excuse that he was performing at an all-night prayer in Harare"

Despite the setback, other gospel artistes like Thembalami Tagwirei, Mudiwa Mutandwa and Wellington Kwenda, as if to make it up to the fans on behalf of Mhere, blazed the event as   they managed to wow the crowd with their dazzling performances.
