ZIVHU ACCOMODATES ORPHANS, WIDOWS IN CHIVI

Rural District Council chairman, Killer Zivhu has gone a milestone as he is constructing houses to accommodate orphans and widows in Chivi.

Chivi north, (ward 2) councilor, Mr. Saunders Magwizi said Zivhu’s kindness to the people around him and the community as a whole shows that he is a true leader as he is  working towards developing the welfare of the poor.

“What Zivhu did can only be done by few. It shows that he is a true leader with vision  and heart for others .Not all leaders are capable of fulfilling their promises to the people, but, Zivhu is one of a kind, who has fulfilled his promises as we now see the house standing” said Magwizi

Recently Zivhu has donated two houses, one in Madyangove and the other in Nyengera villages for widows and orphans, who are homeless as some of the projects which has been initiated for community development.

One of the houses donated was given to a widow by the name, Svoko Ndambakuuya in Nyengera village, who is taking responsibility for all the orphans whose parents died of HIV and AIDS in the village, nurturing them and sending them to school.

“I had to take these orphans in because they had no shelter. However, the house I was living in was not in good condition thus, Zivhu insisted in building a new home for us. I am grateful” said Ndambakuuya

One of the orphans Tatenda Chigwira said, their lives have since changed ever since the chairman and other villagers are assisting them with food and shelter as they were living in a house which was collapsing.

“We are thankful for the chairman’s help and those who are helping in building the house. Life hasn’t been fair to us for a long time until Zivhu came into our lives.” Said Chigwira

Villagers in both villages are expecting more assistance as they are more families with the same problems.

MHERE SNUBS GZU GOSPEL CONCERT

            by Elizabeth Magaya

Popular gospel artiste, Mathias Mhere disappointed the Great Zimbabwe University students when he did not show up at a gospel concert, held under the theme: “GZU yorumbidza Mwari”, where he was set to perform last Friday.

The ‘Favour’ hit-maker was scheduled to perform on the 1st of May at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), but did not show up as he was said to be performing at the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries All-night prayer.

Mhere, a darling of many Gospel fans as he is well-known for his vivacious stage performances, once staged at the same venue last year, where he gave his best shot which left the fans thirsting for more.

Students were disappointed by the seemingly unconvincing announcement that was made about Mhere not being able to attend the concert due to family issues.

One of the students who attended the concert, Linda Shabaya, retorted, “I was so devastated that Mathias Mhere did not show up, since he was the star attraction  the major reason why my friends and l decided to attend the Gospel concert. The disappointment even escalated when l heard the lame excuse that he was performing at an all-night prayer in Harare"

Despite the setback, other gospel artistes like Thembalami Tagwirei, Mudiwa Mutandwa and Wellington Kwenda, as if to make it up to the fans on behalf of Mhere, blazed the event as   they managed to wow the crowd with their dazzling performances.

LOW TURNOUT AT FREEMAN’S  SHOW

By Elizabeth Magaya
Freeman performing live at Chemberi Mashava
A low turnout was witnessed at the much hyped Freeman’s show held at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) Chemberi Hall in Mashava due to students’ failure to afford the admission fee charged by the door.
Students indicated that they could not afford to pay the required amount and worse still they considered the fee as not complementing as there was only one artist several students hence resorted to returning to their hostels.
Asked for a comment was a GZU student, Miss Getrude Chiteva and she had this to say, “Some of us students cannot afford to pay $2 as entry fee to see one artist, at least a dollar would be reasonable to us students”.

There was a stampede at the entrance of the Hall as organisers tried to help the students by reducing the price to 1 dollar however their efforts were fruitless because the artist’s manager came and reverted the prices to $2.
GZU student, Miss Kundai Gono told the reporter that, the organisers confused the students at the door to the extent that some had no option but to return back to our hostels
Despite the low turnout, the Dancehall Doctor (Freeman) went on stage to give a commendable three hour show.
He churned some of his best Zim-dancehall songs such as Joina city, Neshungu, Handina godo, Uchatiurayisa and the few that managed to attend the show were seen dancing and singing along with his tunes.
